i was born in southern california and i lived there all growing up. after getting married, i moved to arizona for a few years. you could say i like warm weather. i would rather PLAY with my christmas toys on christmas morning outside in my shorts, ya know? who needs a white christmas?! so that’s me. i have heard all the arguments for “four seasons” and “gorgeous snowscapes”, but its just not for me! i hate being cold. i’m cold when its 65!
now, enter the husband’s job change to seattle. seattle? it rains there right? YES, it rains! and it doesn’t just rain, it SNOWS and its COLD! what’s the point of this whole post? i was NOT born to freeze my fingers off scraping windows every morning!! shouldn’t they have some magic window fluid that melts ice on contact?

Sounds horrid! We are FREEZING here today and I think it’s 60 degrees. Why can’t every state be just like Southern California?
That would be an invention, but I think you should just move back to AZ.
Don’t get cold fingers scraping your windshield get the lowest temperature windshield wiper fluid that your auto parts store has(-25 to -35 degrees, the cheaper stuff will just freeze on the windshield) and stick it in a spray bottle. When your windshield ices over spray the fluid on the ice. By the time you make it around your car the ice will have thawed. Some stores even sell an aerosol version, although I prefer the more economical gallon jug.
I grew up in So. Cal. too and moved to Boston about 21 years ago. I must admit - I LOVE the seasons!
Oh dear Jamie, you haven’t even made it through December!! You might need some therapy by the time March rolls around and it is still cold! I don’t like the cold either, but I don’t like to be hot either.
If you check on Amazon they sell rechargeable heated ice scrapers
i am definitely going to have to check out these inventions you all suggested!!! let’s hope i still have fingers to shoot with by spring
I’ve been following your blog for a few weeks now…you’re one of my “photographer idols” that I watch to get inspiration for my own images and photography business. Anyways, living in North Dakota…I deal with bitter cold all the time…it’s actually -7 degrees as we speak…but just wanted to tell you that they do make “magic window fluid” that melts ice on contact. It’s pretty much amazing!! Good luck adjusting to the Seattle weather~let me know if you need the name of the magic fluid :)!
