something in the water

yesterday i got to do another fun shoot with the kellis family. harmony is pregnant and they are having another boy!

harmony also had one of her good friends leisel is also pregnant come over for some fun double belly shots :)

last days in boise

this is the whole clan! we had so much fun visiting with all owen's family! we took some portraits in the park with my timer, and i'm so happy with how it turned out!


the kids got to go fishing with grandma and grandpa, and boy, am i glad that they were the ones to teach them fishing! they used actual worms (velveeta's the only thing i've used!) and i would not have been able to bait a hook.


tyler preferred to feed the ducks her bag of marshmellows.

she liked the white duck best, and kept getting mad when the other ducks would take the marshmellow first.

we also went four-wheeling... the kids had a BLAST!!

the kids loved uncle khan, and he was so great to hang out with them all weekend!



this is the end of our trip! we had so much fun and hope to come back soon!

the payne family!

up in boise i got to see some friends from arizona! the paynes lived in our old neighborhood, and i did their family portraits last fall. i got to meet the whole extended family this time!

the bennetts

i'm also getting in a couple sessions while i'm up here in boise. unfortunately, we couldn't get all of the bennett kids together, but we had fun anyway!

nate was SO adorable! not only did he have the most gorgous eyes, but he had such an infectious smile, he just made me feel happy throughout the whole shoot!


abby wasn't too thrilled about the grass, but she loved being held by her mom and big sister!



abby also found a leave that was pretty yummy

idaho!!

the kids and i made a trip up to idaho to visit owen's parents. both sets of grandparents love to do very different things, so its fun for the kids to have the experiences with both.

one of blake's favorite things to do up here is to hammer nails. this started when he was young, and he has remembered it ever since!

this was his log from the last time we were up - you can see, he spent a lot of time hammering!

he got a new log this trip, so he's working on filling it up as well!

until owen was 10, they lived on a potato farm, so this trip, grandpa planted some "spuds" for the kids to dig up. then they had to load their trucks and get them to the cellar. it was so cute! i missed the actual digging, but the kids had so much fun, and loaded up the cellar!d

taylor and craig

i had so much fun this weekend shooting taylor and craig's wedding in carlsbad, ca. the weather was gorgeous, the decor was amazing, and the couple wasn't too bad either :) i knew from the engagement shoot that they were naturals around the camera, so i knew i would love the wedding shots!

heather balliet, of amorology weddings, did an AMAZING job with the flowers and reception site. it was absolutely beautiful! i will be working with her on two other weddings this fall, and am really looking forward to it!

tarryn and riley

i had a fun engagement shoot for tarryn and riley today. they're getting married in september here in arizona, and i'm really looking forward to it!

a little sleepy one

he really was so sleepy! little michael woke up at the end of almost an hour of moving him around, changing clothes, diaper on and off, swaddling and un-swaddling! and i really enjoyed talking with his mom since he was so quiet and peaceful!

fun new things!

this week tyler started a ballet and tap class and blake started preschool! i've been waiting what seems like forever until tyler was old enough to go to dance and now she can! she had so much fun and was pretty upset to find out she couldn't go back the next day. and blake loves his preschool too! last year i waited too long and so i ended up doing a co-op preschool with some of my friends. let's just say i'm so glad he is going to a real preschool this year!

i'm sorry to all my clients, but i just don't think it gets much cuter than these two kids :)

last night on the beach...

the last night we were in california, we all headed down for a barbeque on the beach. i got a couple last surfing shots before i left to do some portraits. after i got back, we all roasted marshmellows!

okay, this was just a random shot from the day before, but i thought it was so cute i had to put it up!

matthew LOVES to body surf. the way the tide was made it get really deep really fast. all you could see was his head, and he almost got run over by more than one surfer!

i liked this one because my dad and jess are on the same wave together!


we were hoping to get a fire pit, but they were all full so we improvised :)

blake didn't want any brown on his marshmellow.

california was so much fun! thanks to all of you who met me for photo shoots, and to my family for the fun times!

the rutters

people often ask me during my busy seasons how i do so much work, and if i'm ever tired of it. the truth of it is, i do not ever get tired of shooting. its what i love to do - capturing those beautiful relationships between family members. more than a gorgeous background, or perfect clothing, its when i catch those little moments that i am most excited about what i do. i have been feeling really lucky with this lately, and the rutters gave me such great examples of the sweetness that i see with my work!

i went to change my memory card, and when i turned around, this is what i saw. LOVE IT! you can tell they love each other and their kids. very sweet :)

now these guys were up for some fun! all the kids were so great during pictures, and i could see such sweet relationships between all the family members!

aunt jill

you may remember when i did the lesueur cousin pictures. jill was a HUGE help in getting all the kids to look and smile by dancing and singing behind the camera. it was fun to get her in front of the camera for a change with her cute husband and little boy!

carter was having a hard time walking in the sand!

but once he had his shirt off and some crackers to eat, he was feeling much better!

the nelsons

i had a great time with the nelsons, and they were so laid back that it made everything fun and easy! even after a fall and a diaper situation, both parents were still laughing and enjoying themselves!

apparently i didn't post a very impressive surfing photo, so i went through the photos again and chose a better one :) i think my dad feels better about himself now!

one more day in utah!

i am getting such cute families lately! the fields also came down and met me at the beach. miles was SUPER SMILEY and so much fun. it was pretty windy, but they were great sports about it.


i'm having way too much fun with the sun going down on the beach, and enjoy experimenting! :)

the jergensens

this family is just beautiful! they were nice enough to come meet me at the beach and do some family portraits. we had a lot of fun, and i even got surprised by a wave and got all wet! i know there are a ton of pictures - i tried to narrow down my favs, but i still came up with all of these!

on vacation... sort of :)

i'm really should be relaxing since my next couple months are going to be really crazy! but of course i can't stop myself from doing photography - both for myself and for others. but its okay, because i love it! we are having a GREAT time with my family on the beach! my kids and i drove out to join them at a beach house to visit with the rest of my brothers and sisters.
